Growing up I didn’t fall for My Little Pony, and not being a grown man today – I missed their comeback in recent years, but judging from not only their look but what I’ve seen in passing – I can only imagine their radio stations would be filled with that song from The Lego Movie as well as the The Y Axes’ “Meteorite.” Its light and airy song that has this magical quality about it that makes it pop in all the right places.
“Meteorite” is the first of four singles his San Francisco band will be dropping this year, and if this is where they’ve decided to start, there’s no wonder where they’ll go from here. This first track makes you want to smile while you want to dance simultaneously down a path sprinkled with glitter, so much so it looks like the night sky when peppered with the light of the stars.
Not too long ago The Y Axes played not too far from where they call home in Oakland at the XOXO Nightclub, and this week when they drop their first single, they’ll be celebrating and popping out at Milk Bar in the historical Haight/Ashbury neighborhood. Make sure to check out their first of four singles, as well as their San Francisco date on January 29.
