When your age is closer to 30 than 20, you start to feel a little awkward keeping up with the current pop music. You may love that new Ariana Grande song, but the thought of going to her show and being asked where your daughter is in the crowd is a legit fear. That’s why it’s nice that pop music like Polaris Rose exists. They have a sound that embarks on having hooks but they never crossover into that prepubescent area, but stay more towards the kind you’d find on a nice mixtape alongside Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. At least that’s exactly where their latest single, “TigerBait” belongs.
It was two years ago now that I talked with Polaris Rose over at Golden Mixtape and then they were OceanSongs and comparing themselves to Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park fame when it came to a famous duo they emulate. Today they’re continuing with their music, having just released “TigerBait” and played The Mint this week. They’re a constant in the LA music scene – so keep an eye and an ear out for where they’ll be next.
