The latest single from DIIV combines the nuances of the 80’s new wave scene and the intricate mannerisms of 90’s alternative. That’s what makes “Is The Is Are” a perfect companion for the Echo as the band prepares for a residency there. It’s actually the first of three they have planned to promote their sophomore album by the same name. Their music has a lighthearted packaging with a heartfelt core that makes it a well balanced treat. Critics raved about their debut and have been doing the same since Is The Is Are dropped at the start of February.
Right now DIIV is playing a string of shows down under in New Zealand and Australia. They’ll soon be back in the states and heading to the Echo February 22 for a few days before driving up north for a couple of shows in San Francisco at Brick and Mortar and Independent. They’ll then return to their native New York for a few days at the start of March. A couple weeks after their home shows, they’ll hop on a plane for the UK. They have a busy couple of months coming up, so Angelenos should make plans to catch them while they’re here.
