As an adult when Victorious was out on Nickelodeon, it should not have been a show I looked forward to on a weekly basis – but it was. For those who missed out or were you know, being grown ups or whatever, it was about a group of kids at a performing arts school in LA and it was the birthplace of Ariana Grande’s career. I knew then she was bigger than that show but that’s another story for another day and the only reason that came to mind was because of Mackenzie Thoms.
Originally from the Northwest, he’s an import to LA and his latest single, “Do Me All Again,” reminds me something the soulful Leon on the show would’ve came up with. In that it’s got this sweet R&B base in the vocals but the packaging comes with a bow constructed of pop.
This song has not left my side since I sat down to write about an hour ago. I’m a sucker for a well written pop song but there’s something different about this one. Unlike when I listen to Carly Rae Jepsen in the middle of the day, when I’m sure no one is around, this one has substance and I’m definitely not ashamed of people knowing I liked his Facebook and am eagerly awaiting the video because I’m sure it’s going to be a little sultry. If you like the new stuff Bieber has been releasing, but are also a fan of the likes of say…Justin Timberlake, then Mackenzie Thoms and his “Do Me All Again” need to enter your life immediately.
