Music Monday: Rocket to the 70’s

Warped Tour isn’t for a couple of months, but some of their vets are coming through LA for their own shows this week. From punk rockers to gospel singers to guys who make alternative rock well, rock – this week is chalked full of fantastic must-see shows.

The Rocket Summer at Troubadour on 4/12

A guitar entered his world when he was a mere 12-years-old and in 1999 he dropped his first EP. Since then he’s played everywhere from SXSW to Warped Tour. Now this year he’s heading out in support of sixth LP, Zoetic.

Frankie Cosmos at The Echo on 4/14

We’re big fans of this New Yorker around here. We have been ever since “Sinister” found its way to us and we cannot wait for LA to get a chance to see her this week!

Kirk Franklin at The Wiltern on 4/15

He’s arguably one of the most well-known gospel singers – ever. He took that genre from the four walls of the church and into the mainstream back in the day. And all these years later, he’s still at it.

NOFX at The Belasco Theater on 4/16

Like The Rocket Summer, NOFX are Warped Tour veterans who’ve seen their fair share of everything the music realm has to offer. They’re not only coming through, these punk legends are also dropping a book this month. So make sure to check out their show, and their first-ever biography.

The 1975 at Shrine Expo Hall on 4/18 & 19

This band has only been in the spotlight for a few years but are one of the leading alternative rock bands out there today.
