If you are like many of us who left home to find fame, fortune, or maybe just a good time, or maybe someone you know or loved left you behind as they began their journey in search of something more, then you will be able to relate to this new song by Los Angeles based band Water District.
Beginning with a beautiful piano intro and an upbeat tempo that lifts to a bright and memorable chorus that is far more developed than you would expect from such a young band that has their roots in Southern Orange County California, Supernova touches upon the theme of life and change and is written from the perspective of someone reaching out to a loved one who left them behind and moved to the big city in search of fulfilling their big dreams.
Produced with the help of Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart, Silversun Pickups, Ben Gibbard) at The Ship recording studio in Eagle Rock, CA. The record was mixed by Tony Hoffer (Fitz and The Tantrums, Foster The People, Silversun Pickups), and mastered by Dave Cooley of Elysian Masters.
The band was formed in 2011 and comprises of Tice Griffin (vocals, guitar, piano), Hunter Gurney (bass), Alex Meingast (lead guitar, piano), and Ajay Awasthi (drums).
The band is preparing to tour in the summer in support of their new music and they are having a single release party this Saturday at Rafa’s Lounge in echo park!
