Music Monday: Something New…

That’s it folks – July is done this week and August will soon be upon us. Can you believe that? If you ask me, we all need to get out of 2016 because this year’s been full of disappointments. Take your pick, because we all have one or two that come to the top of our minds. However, when the world can look dim, there’s always music to rise spirits and this week in LA we have a handful of shows to help ease you.

Flight Of The Conchords at Greek Theatre on 7/26 and 7/27

The comedy duo out of New Zealand have been making people laugh with their music for over a decade now. They’re one of those bands that have a cult like following and when it comes to being a fan you just don’t like these guys – you freaking love and worship them.

Modest Mouse & Brand New at The Forum on 7/27

A rock band from Washington and a band from the east coast that helped usher in the emo waves of the early 2000’s, these two would not be seen in the same scene – but they found their way to one another and have teamed up to take on one of LA’s biggest venues.

The National at Greek Theatre on 7/28

Now, this is a band I could see touring with Modest Mouse but they aren’t. Instead they’re heading out to headline their own tour where they’ll play everything from “Bloodbuzz Ohio” to “I Need My Girl” and more.

Bonnie Raitt at Greek Theatre on 7/30

Did you know this girl was a local gal? Born in Burbank, she’ll be playing just over the hill at the exquisite Bowl this week. No wonder she’s been everywhere recently from ABC’s Greatest Hits to Jimmy Kimmel Live!

New Edition at Microsoft Theater on 7/30

Yes, the Beatles and The Monkees came long before them but it was New Edition that influenced the birth of the modern day boy band, and fans of New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys and One Direction have to pay respect to the ones who got it started back in the day – and they’re still going strong as they’re playing LA in a few days. Plus, make sure to look out for their biopic TV-movie, out soon.
