It’s rare that we come up on a singer or band that is so good that we listen to them again and again and again, so we are are very excited to introduce you to Sheena.
Sheena, is a super talented R&B/Pop singer-songwriter from Woodbridge Virginia (currently living in New York) and is likely to have a huge future in music especially after her release of her new single “So-Low”, from her sophomore album, Made of Gold, produced by Austin Bello from the Band Forever The Sickest Kids.
The track is a powerfully charged rap-house, power-infused pop song that begins with a subtle guitar solo and a unique power drop that reminded us of Imagine Dragon’s Radioactive, but with more sizzle and variety. Sheena Waw wah’s repeatedly burning her melody so deep into your brain you won’t be able to push it out until long after the song finishes. The song tells a story of an individual gaining independence and acknowledging that they can make it on their own in the world by letting go of everything and everyone holding them back from success.
Another awesome song by Sheena is “Air Ballons” that highlights just how talented this super singer is.
Sheena who has performed nearly everywhere including Syria and South Korea, discovered her musical talents early on and began performing in showcases at the age of 7. Since then, Sheena has performed in front of thousands across the US and abroad with notable performances at Disney World, Webster Hall – where she opened for Swedish artist Sebastian Mikael, Central Park and the 2015 D.C. Pride Festival where she opened for En Vogue and Carley Rae Jepson. In May 2014, Sheena released her debut record, ‘Dream In Color’, holding the number-one spot on Bandcamp in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia markets for several months.
In addition to her forthcoming sophomore effort, Sheena is working on several voice over projects as a reference singer for a publishing company. Most recently, she was featured on MTV.com, Macy’s American Rag’s own Ragged Mag, as well as Examiner. Her music video for ‘Stranger’, one of the lead singles from SHENNA’s first E.P., was also featured on AXS TV and CMT. Her single ‘Take Your Time (Dream In Color)’ was featured on MTV’s original series ‘Finding Carter’. In anticipation of her album release, you can catch Sheena performing shows with her band throughout the Tri-State circuit.
Be on the look out for more from Sheena, in 2016-2017! In the meantime stream “So-Low” and you will know why we think she is truly a super star on the verge of Coming Up big time.
