Music Monday: Heading to Camp and the ’80s

When I looked at what was coming up this week in terms of shows in SoCal, I thought we’d stepped into a time machine. First we’re going to have Morirssey down in Irvine at the Bren Events Center on Wednesday, and then Culture Club up in Thousand Oaks the next night. Then I saw violinist Lindsey Stirling was performing at Dolby Theatre that same evening and thought, okay – we’re still in 2016. It’s just the icons of the ’80s are still so great, they’re still making fans super happy by sticking around and playing. Coming up this weekend we switch gears with a couple days overflowing with hip hop thanks to the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival going on at the Memorial Coliseum down in Expo Park. There you’ll get to see everyone from A$AP Rocky to Lil Wayne to Chance The Rapper. We’re not done yet, oh no. Come the following Monday you can see a queen in her own right, Erykah Badu down in Santa Ana at The Observatory. Now that you know what’s going down, which ones are you heading out to?
